MANILA, Philippines–Charly Suarez will get another crack at a world title after the World Boxing Organization (WBO) ordered an “immediate rematch” between him and Mexican champion Emanuel Navarette.
“The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has officially ruled the bout between Emanuel Navarette and Charly Suarez a No-Contest,” the WBO announced Tuesday.

“In light of the foregoing, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) is hereby ordering an immediate rematch.”
The decision came less than a month after the first fight ended in controversial fashion with Navarette winning by a seven-round technical decision to retain the WBO super featherweight crown.
The bout was halted after seven rounds with Navarrete bleeding from a cut over his left eye caused by an accidental clash of heads as ruled by referee Edward Collantes in the sixth round.
As a result, the fight went to the scorecards at the time of the stoppage with all three judges having Navarrete ahead on points—77-76, 77-76 and 78-75.

Video replay, however, clearly showed the gash was from a solid left hand from Suarez and had it not been for Collantes’ blunder, the Davao del Norte native would’ve won the title by technical knockout.
There is no date yet for the rematch but as per reports, Top Rank vowed to make it happen in a “timely manner.”
Due to the cut, Navarette is on medical suspension until July 9.
