MANILA, Philippines–Petro Gazz extended its winning run in the PVL All-Filipino Conference to seven games after making quick work of Capital1, 25-19, 25-18, 25-9, on Tuesday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
“Today [we] came out good. Everyone [had] a good performance,” coach Koji Tsuzurabara said.
“Lagi naman pong nire-remind ng coaches namin na simulan talaga namin sa ensayo para magke-carry over lang lahat nung process na tinatrabaho namin sa training coming to the game, para ‘di kami blinded kung ano ‘yung ilalaro namin,” Remy Palma said.

The usual gunners went to work for Petro Gazz with Myla Pablo dropping 14 points on 11 attacks, two blocks and an ace and Brooke van Sickle finishing with 13 points, 10 attacks, two aces and a block as the Angels soared to an 8-1 record.
As Djanel Cheng dished out with 13 excellent sets, apart from five points, Palma and MJ Phillips added seven and six points, respectively. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Ranya Musa also chipped in five points apiece. Jellie Tempiatura caught 12 excellent digs.
“May idea kami, kailangan lang talagang i-apply ‘yung ineensayo. So ‘yung momentum na nakukuha namin is part lang talaga nung process na kailangan muna talagang trabahuhin bago mo makuha ‘yung resulta na hinihingi sa ‘yo,” Palma said.
Petro Gazz didn’t even allow Capital1 to gain some sort of momentum. The Solar Spikers tried to keep up in the first two frames before losing steam in the final, where the Angels charged to a 10-2 opening run.

The Angels carved out a 7-0 run to slowly douse any hopes of a Capital1 comeback, 20-8, before hammering in the nail in the coffin with a 5-0 closer.
Capital1 absorbed a sixth consecutive defeat and dropped to a 1-9 standing. No Solar Spiker hit double-digits with Heather Guino-o’s eight pacing the team while Des Clemente-de Guzman added six points.
Petro Gazz looks to keep the ball rolling against hapless Galeries Tower on Saturday at Ynares Center Antipolo while Capital1 hopes to somehow end the preliminary round on a high note opposite Farm Fresh next Tuesday.
